1. Blue is the colour of hope in Kashmir
i. Thousands of devotees gathered at the annual mela of Kheer Bhawani, Kashmir’s largest Hindu festival, the interdependence and mutual respect that Pandits and Muslims have enjoyed for centuries was also on display.
2. DD Kisan, India’s first television channel dedicated to farmers launched by PM Narendra Modi
i. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, along with the Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh, and the Union Minister for State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Rathore, launched the new channel DD Kisan, Doordarshan's channel dedicated exclusively to farmers on 26th May, 2015.
ii. The Prime Minister also called for making the "Tehsil" the unit of agricultural planning and development. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, called for increasing food-grain productivity from 2 tons per hectare to 3 tons per hectare.
iii. The DD Kisan channel which goes with the tagline, 'Badalte Bharat ki Shan' is a 24x7 channel that will telecast updated information on agriculture, weather and related subject for the benefit of its target audience including cattle rearers, bee keepers, poultry owners, mechanics and craftsmen.
3. Four Indians among world’s 100 most powerful women according to Forbes 12th annual list
i. German Chancellor Angela Merkel again topped the Forbes annual list. Merkel has made the list 10 times over the past 12 years, nine times as No 1.
ii. Four Indians are among the world’s 100 most powerful women who are “transforming the world”, according to the Forbes’ 12th annual list. SBI Chief Arundhati Bhattacharya (30th rank), ICICI bank head Chanda Kochhar (35th rank), Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (85th rank), HT Media Chair Shobhana Bhartia (93rd rank).
iii. Two women of Indian-origin — PepsiCo Chief Indra Nooyi (15) and Cisco Chief Technology and Strategy Officer Padmasree Warrior (84) — make the list.
iv. 4. Centre forms panel to revitalize PPP projects in infrastructure
i. The government has constituted a committee to revitalize the public private partnership (PPP) mode for infrastructure development.
ii. The 10-member panel to be headed by former finance secretary Vijay Kelkar has been entrusted to suggest ways on improving capacity building within the government for effective implementation of PPP projects.
5. MUDRA banks partners with 19 regional coordinators to reach small entrepreneurs
i. Micro Units Development Refinance Agency (MUDRA) Bank has partnered with 19 state and regional level coordinators to reach those small entrepreneurs who are often cut off from the banking system because of a limited branch presence.
ii. The Central government had set up MUDRA Bank to boost the growth of small scale businesses as small entrepreneurs face difficulty to access banking system for various reasons.
