1. NASSCOM launches Cyber Security Task Force:
i. National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) and Data Security Council of India have launched NASSCOM Cyber Security Task Force.
ii. The task force aims to build India as a global hub for providing cyber security solutions, developing cyber security R&D plan and develop a skilled workforce of cyber security experts.
iii. The task force members will include industry leaders across IT, BPM and internet, heads of user organizations like banks and telcos as well as representatives from the government and academia.
2. India's first transgender college principal
i. Manobi Bandopadhyay became the first person from the transgender community to head an educational institution in India. Professor Bandopadhyay will take over as Principal of Krishnanagar Women’s College in Nadia district of West Bengal on June 9, 2015.
3. Tripura government withdraws AFSPA
i. The Tripura cabinet has withdrawn the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act with immediate effect, giving in to popular demand.

i. The Tripura cabinet has withdrawn the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act with immediate effect, giving in to popular demand.
ii. The present six-month term of the Act is all set to expire this month.
iii. AFSPA was promulgated in the state on February 16, 1997, owing to the relentless violence and bloodshed during the period.
iv. Following the provisions of the Act, it was reviewed and extended every six months for the last 18 years.
4. US state of Nebraska abolished death penalty
i. Nebraska on became the first conservative state in more than 40 years to abolish the death penalty, with lawmakers defying their Republican governor, Pete Ricketts, a staunch supporter of capital punishment who had lobbied vigorously against banning it.
5. No FIPB nod required for M&As in sectors under automatic route
i. The Central government has said that Foreign Investment Promotion Board’s (FIPB) approval will not be required for merger and acquisitions in sectors, where FDI is allowed under automatic route, a move aimed at further improving the ease of doing business in the country.
ii. The initiative is aimed at clarifying the grey areas in the foreign direct investment (FDI) policy.
Inter-ministerial body FIPB clears investment proposals of up to Rs.3, 000 crore.
